It has been another great year here at Backendless! Coming in 2020, we will be taking another giant step forward with the release of Version 6.
We have been working tirelessly to develop and expand our platform to be the best MBaaS provider we can be. There’s so much to come and we can’t wait for you to see it!
What does Version 6 have in store for you? Here are a few of the many features we’re most excited about:
Spatial data is a powerful way to store the location of objects in your Backendless Database. Use it to identify the location of real-world objects such as shipped packages or virtual objects such as player coordinates in a 2-dimensional game.
Soon, you’ll be able to add spatial data with the same WGS 84 geometry as Google Maps to your Backendless data. You can add, edit, and delete spatial data or use it to create routes, boundaries, and much more.
Spatial data is coming in early 2020 and the documentation is available now.
The new Backendless Database Transaction API enables client applications – including Cloud Code – to run multiple database operations in the same database transaction. If any of the operations fails, the transaction is rolled back and no changes are made; otherwise, the transaction is committed and all changes are persisted in the database.
Your client application can group multiple create, retrieve, update, delete and relation management operations into a single request sent to the server, which results in greater data integrity and improved performance.
The Transaction API is coming in early 2020.
Since Flutter’s release, we have strived to make Backendless one of the most compatible backends for Flutter apps. If you’re building or planning to build an app with the versatile Flutter hybrid framework, consider Backendless for your backend.
We are actively working on developing full documentation for our Flutter SDK. The docs will be available in early 2020 along with version 1.0 of the SDK.
You can read all of our Flutter content here. We will be adding plenty more in the new year.
In case you missed it, our latest series of articles is called our FAQ Series. These articles are perfect starting points for anyone exploring the benefits of MBaaS compared to building a traditional backend.
These articles can be a great tool for demonstrating the business value of mobile backend as a service for your next app project.
Check out all three articles so far: “What is Mobile Backend as a Service (MBaaS)?”, “What is API as a Service?”, and “What is Serverless Computing?”
Finally, did you know that you can now login to Backendless Console using your Github account? It is now easier than ever to start working with Backendless as a developer.
All of our SDKs are available in GitHub repositories.
We can’t wait to show you what 2020 has in store.
From the Backendless family to yours, Happy Holidays and Happy Coding!
