To the dynamic size content question - You can use width and height logic to determine dynamic size. Previously, values were accepted only with the indication of the unit of measurement. But now we've added some validation and now it's possible to pass a value without a unit, but that value will be automatically converted to px. Also, to determine the height and width depending on the screen size, you can use the "Get App Size" block.

Hi Stanislav, thanks for the update, I understand this component more now. Seems to me that is is essentially a block with a few kinds of CSS classes which we can make visible or invisible when we want, with possibly some height/width logic areas that allow us to set sizes. Perhaps building our own CSS class(es) for content is a smarter way to create the skeleton loading? I’m relatively new to coding, but I imagine adding or removing a class that defines a “loading” animated background for any kind of element would be easier than turning on & off visibility for multiple elements… or maybe I’m missing something? How does this specific component save us time/work? Thank you again for your efforts!

I’ve tested your cases and can aswer you that we created an internal sub-tickets to add the Usage to the Readme file and fixing some issues.

When you type the dimetsion props (height, width) you need to use index without space - “px“ or “%“. Ex - “100px”, not “100”, not “100 px“.

There are “width logic” and “height logic” in the component already, we’ll add the dynamic dimesions change to the Usage.

I’ll notifiy you, When a new version will be available.

Hello team, after playing with this component, some questions (or bug reports):

— it appears that the component becomes invisible automatically as soon as some other content that’s contained in the same block is rendered. Is this how it works? Would be good to document a little more to specifically describe how ‘Skeleton’ works.

— when not setting a height, component is nicely visible. But when we set a height, the ‘Skeleton’ is not visible. This is a bug, I think.

—when setting a width, this is just ignored by the component (setting width to “100” does nothing, ‘Skeleton’ is still 100% of parent container.

—”classes” seems to be simply ignored, we cannot use any of our pre-defined CSS classes.

— how to deal with content that this dynamic in size (e.g. an image that is 400 px max width but can be smaller on mobile phones)? Do we create “width logic” and “height logic” via some calculations we have to come up with? What shape does “width logic” take? Wiring a number to the return doesn’t seem to do anything other than break things, the ‘Skelton’ is not visible at all if we do that.

If I understand correctly - yes, it can works in certain situations, but by removing and adding to the page, you can make a more detailed skeleton like the card in the usage guide, and it will be a more versatile solution. You may not be able to change the background to show the skeleton in some components.

When you uninstall a package, we calculate the amount for the unused portion of the time and it goes back to you as credit. Any future purchases will use the credit first and then your credit card (if the amount of credit is not sufficient).

For the marketplaces purchases it is required to have credit card. We will not charge it if you have converted BBs.

In UI-Builder I am missing a preview. Whenever I change an attribute of the Badge Component it is not reflected in UI Builder. You have to preview the page in a browser to see the impact fo the changes. This makes the use kind of tricky.

For now, you can play with it without docs, you will need to invoke csv2table method.

Here is a description of this method:

Params:

• csvURL {string} - The URL of a csv to be parsed, required

• tableName {object} - The name of the table to write into, required

• options {object} - Optional

options params:

• columns {Array|Array|boolean} - Generate records as object literals instead of arrays. List of fields as an array, or true if auto-discovered in the first CSV line. Defaults to null. Affects the result data set in the sense that records will be objects instead of arrays. A value false, null, or undefined inside the column array skips the column from the output

• group_columns_by_name {boolean} - Convert values into an array of values when columns are activated and when multiple columns of the same name are found

• delimiter {string} - Set one or several field delimiters containing one or several characters. It defaults to , (comma)

• encoding {string} - Set the input and output encodings. Using null or false output the raw buffer instead of a string and it defaults to utf8

• escape {string} - Set the escape character as one character/byte only. It only applies to quote and escape characters inside quoted fields and it defaults to " (double quote)

• from {number} - Start handling records from a requested number of records. Count is 1-based, for example, provides 1 (and not 0) to emit first record

• from_line {number} - Start handling records from a requested line number

• ignore_last_delimiters {boolean} - Disregard any delimiters present in the last field of the record, require the column option when true

I cannot understand how this component is supposed to work… upon adding it to a page, I see “+” to create a new item in list… but the new item doesn’t appear (?!) and after creating a new item, the “+” to create another item is gone. When setting item list in “item list logic” with objects that have objects with key/value pairs “label”: “string” and “value”:”string”, items appear on the page… but with no content displayed.

Please include a proper “read me” that explains this component. As it is, it’s not useable.

Hello @alexklein, sorry for not informing you about the update. I checked and see that the ticket was created, the fix was made and the component was updated in the marketplace. Could you please check again (need to reinstall the component again) and let us know if everything is fine now? By the way, in the near future we plan to make automatic updating of components, so in the future to update a component you will only need to click one button.

The loss of focus issue is fixed, but a new bug appeared (described in Github). The bug manifests when there are two instances of the component on a page, both using data binding (one set to “read only”). We can get around this by using “paragraph” component to serve as the “read only” component to get the content from the rich editor, but it’s really suboptimal.

The change seems to have introduced some bugs in the component… I’m creating issues in Github to explain how to reproduce.

You can try it with update to the version 1.5.0.

This component looks great — but documentation is a little lacking. Questions:

1) After install, there is a Codeless block for “Get HTML from Rich Editor”. I’m guessing this is what we can use to save content to the database… but what data type should the column (of the db table used for storage) be? Text? JSON?

2) If this component allows a user to create html, could there be security concerns? Could it leave our site vulnerable to XSS attacks?

3) There are nice options to hide link, video, and image insert buttons. It would be great to have some control over the other buttons/options in the editor menu. Is there a programmatic way to show/hide other items in the editor? If so, please provide info in the documentation.

I spoke too soon… in the latest version, there’s a bug where if data binding is used for “Content”, the editor looses focus as soon as one character is typed. Component is unusable in this way (user has to click into editor for each character they want to type). I added an issue in Github…

2. Prevented XSS attacks

To update your component, use the following instructions:

• find the component to be updated

• copy component id (so that the instances of this component continue to work)

• uninstall this component

• install new one

• go to files/ui-builder/containers/{containerName}/components/custom/{NEW_COMPONENT_ID} and rename this folder with the old id

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to change the default font value for a component content. But I’ve created an internal ticket to try to help you with this.

Setting the font in an Extension does not change the value in the toolbar font select. Also, the component uses inline styles, so values passed in an Extension won't apply to content outside the editor.

However, if you add this code to an Extension, the "Georgia" font will be applied to the content by default.

The changes made in June to be able to set default font only works if you have matching fonts within the list provided.

What would be an improvement is to NOT apply any styles, but rather have an option called something to the effect of: (Use default). I think this would work if one modifies in use-quill-library.js to add one option to export const FontFamilyMap:

USE_DEFAULT : ''

The same should be done for Font Size.

@Ehsan Jahandarpour , an application must be on a billing plan - there are three to choose from: Springboard, Cloud9, Cloud99. You can manage your app’s billing plan on the Manage > Billing screen of Backendless console.

When the trial expires, you need to choose a billing plan so the app can continue to function. Selecting a function pack (like this one “10 GB o File Storage”) does not select a billing plan, but expands your file storage capacity.

To get around issue #2, we can add a small (200msec) delay before the popover is closed “on mouse out”, then the popover content can be clicked 😀

Strange… now I cannot reproduce the bug either. So the component is working as expected — super useful component, thank you so much for creating it!

When I am referencing more than 1 popover on the same page, they all seem to render the same content (the last one on the page). Is this a bug perhaps?

1. If there is not enough space for the specified position to display the element, then the component automatically selects another valid position.

2. This is a good idea for new features. We have created tasks to create a custom delay for the On Mouse Over Event & On Mouse Out Event. We also added a task to create a new event “Click outside the component”. Until new features are released, to solve your problem

(“if the popover content contains a button, when user tries to click the button, the popover content disappears before the button can be clicked”)

use “Set Is Open” Action where ‘is open’ = false” for “on click” event for button.

Nice component — but it has bad bugs at the moment:

1) position is “right”, no matter what we select… seems the functionality of setting position to “bottom” or anything else is broken.

2) When setting the “on mouse out” event to close the popover, the popover content cannot be something the user can interact with. For example: if the popover content contains a button, when user tries to click the button, the popover content disappears before the button can be clicked. It would be very nice if the “on mouse out” event only triggers if user clicks OUTSIDE of the popover content, or AFTER a click on content inside the popover content occurs.

Yes, I see the orientation of the popover changes when there is not enough room on the right… but when there is a lot of room in all directions, the orientation is always to the right. No matter what we select (top, bottom, left, right). Very easy to reproduce, do you not find this behaviour?

Having created 80% of the application with Backendless using the 30 days trial, it is enough for me to use the Springboard Plan for now.

After 30 days I already know much more than you are trying to teach me in these “missions“, but for some reason I am forced now whether to

go through these ridiculous pages with the annoying ”share with friend” popups on each and every stage or buy the shortcut for $50.

“Hey, we’ve created some problems for you to add some frustration in your life, but you can get rid of this again buy paying us 50$“.

“Oh, forgot to mention. If you want to still try this “mission” thing, you should remove your existing application or have a paid plan, since we have blocked it.. umm.. Have a nice day!“

We are not providing Springboard for free. In missions it is simply reward for completing the full course.

For each new application we give free trial on the Cloud 99 for one month so you can try most of the features and decide if system suits your needs. When trial ends we give two options :

1. Pay once $50 and continue to develop your application as long as you need.

2. Switch to Cloud9 or Cloud99 if your app is ready for production or if it better suits your needs.

We introduced Springboard because we understand that 30 days can be not enough to complete application development and it is hard to pay each month when application is not in production and doesn’t generate revenue. That is why you can buy Springboard - with it you could pay only once and continue to develop your app as long as you need.

I want to note that each application consumes server resources which are not free for us. So it is fair that we want charge you for used resources.

I’m enjoying your missions looking forward to the rest to come.

You guys have really done well with how the missions are structured and kept things simple enough to understand, the BBs and the experience points was a nice touch as well.

I have a suggestion for you, if your open to it.

My understanding is that you built this missions training to get more citizen developers to get more familiar with your platform, so they can be empowered to build awesome apps for their organization.

So my suggestion is that everyone get one “training app” to do the missions with a scratch patch if you will, and another to build a proof of concept with to be used to motivate it’s implementation.

With the missions not done yet one has to hold on to the one free springboard account to be able to continue with the missions as I noticed a lot of missions build off of previous ones, or maybe that’s just my OCD side of me that want to keep things neat and organized.

Secondly, there is no factory reset button on an app, so we can’t really start fresh after the training, which in turn negates the purpose of the missions, after all seeing as you want us to build awesome apps.

If need be I’m more that willing to give up the free shirt for another springboard plan, even though I was looking forward to getting such swag merch, but to be really honest it would mean a lot more to me to be able to apply what I learn and build awesome apps that could turn to cloud99 plans.

If I’m ignorant of the full context or missing something, please enlighten me.

Can one reset a spring board account to new like a “factory reset”?

I am loving It, BB has brought self taught coder like me what I envisioned 30 years ago, I just want pay my short cut fee and sum right in though I will still do missions to get the hang of BB and UI builder.

I was always being grappling wi the the API s and the connectivity with front and back , BB has taken all that out and now I can just focus on my ideas or logic and pushing out what I want.

Just a thought- when UI builders truly gets Codeless ( although it is almost there) you might rename FRONTENDLESS 😀😁😎

No, you can freely switch to other billing plan whenever you wish.

I want to note that Springboard is destined for application which is in development. When app goes live it should be moved to Cloud9 or Cloud99 since Springboard doesn’t support SuperScaling feature. Without it application will not be able to handle production traffic

Ah ok, yes it works when the JSON is set in definitions AND the mask is set. I guess it’s just a matter of understanding how to use it properly 😀

Lovely component! Wish we could use it… but it doesn’t have the “variant” selector like regular Backendless input components have. All ur components in our app are variant “filled”, it doesn’t seem possible to make this component look and feel the same. Any chance you could add a variant selector and make this UI component work easily with an existing design (taking the same style as other input components do from the theme library, etc)?

Hi guys, finally getting around to checking out this component… but it doesn’t work as advertised. For example, trying “custom definitions of mask with UI Setting property Definitions” using exactly the code you have in your example on the documentation page does nothing. Entering Display Char does nothing. Entering Placeholder Char does nothing. Is it possible your latest version has serious bugs?

Hi, just tried installing a component from the marketplace and repeating the logic with the "Definitions" from the documentation. Working. Try to install the component again, add it to the page, set the mask for example "###-##-0000" and in "Definitions" set the following JSON:

After that it should work.

If it does not work, please create a topic in support and write all the steps with screenshots.

Still having trouble with this component! For example: I would like to use it in a form, but there seems to be no data binding option for “value”… how to get data/value out of this component? Also, without setting any logic or definitions, the number format seems to be such that only 2 decimal places are allowed, (which is what we want ultimately, but) why/how does this work?

We are trying to create an input field in a form where user can set a price for something. Need

• a currency symbol (as prefix)

• no negative prices (so, need to specify a range)

• value coming from the thing should be a number

But after a lot of time spent studying the documentation and experimenting with this component, I am still not able to get it into the shape we require?! Any chance you could describe what we need to do in these comments?

Powerful app, looks like. But very little, if any, documentation. For the Cloudcode, I cannot see anything anywhere that shows logic or code. The Cloudcode deployment size is 5Mb, but where to see what this code is???

I’m guessing some sort of modal is supposed to appear… but if so, this is not happening. No sign of any error. Needs a bit more documentation!

Tested on desktop with common (NexiGo) webcam … works ‘out of the box!’

For this component we have “On Save Image Event“ handler. When we upload file or make snapshot from webcam the handler is called.

@viktor 1) when I click “Make photo”, I am asked for permission to grant camera access. When I grant access, I see the camera on my computer is activated (little red icon on Chrome browser tab), but there is no interface to snap photo. Nothing happens except my camera is activated?! 2) When I click “Upload”, I am asked to select a file…. I select a file. But then nothing happens. File is not found in our file system.

There are no errors or messages in console. Can you explain what is supposed to happen when clicking the buttons of this component?

Installed and tested on desktop — doesn’t seem to do anything or work at all. In preview, we just get a button “upload”, on click a popup asks us to select a file. After selection, popup closes and nothing happens. File is not found anywhere in our files directories, user is never asked to take a photo with a webcam… documentation is sparse and doesn’t explain how this component is supposed to work. Perhaps it is not working?

A solid component, but it lacks the possibility of data binding to an existing value, so it is only useful when you don’t want to edit existing data.
