This guide will walk you through the process of joining the Backendless Affiliate Program. It will also answer many of your logistical questions.
The Backendless Affiliate Program is designed for individuals and businesses to get paid for the developers they refer to Backendless. Affiliates get paid a 50% commission on all purchases referred users make within Backendless Cloud, including purchases from the Backendless Marketplace, during the user’s first 12 months. The 12-month period begins when the user makes their first paid purchase on the platform.
At this time, you will need a PayPal account to receive affiliate payments. Learn more about getting paid here.
As an added incentive, affiliates may also offer their audience a 15% discount on all purchases from Backendless during the user’s first 12 months, beginning with the user’s signup date. To claim the discount, the referred user must enter a promo code when making the purchase.
To apply to become a Backendless affiliate, visit backendless.firstpromoter.com.
Upon approval to the Backendless affiliate program, you will be able to log in to your affiliate dashboard.
In this section, we will cover the following items:
Once you’ve logged into your affiliate dashboard, you’ll see your affiliate link at the bottom of the page. This link is unique to your affiliate account and directs people who click on it to backendless.com. Those who click on it and visit Backendless, and have not visited Backendless previously, will be tagged as referred by you. This tag will last for 60 days – the cookie window (see below).
A standard affiliate referral link looks like this: https://backendless.com/?fpr=[your_identifier]
Your affiliate referral link has a 60-day tracking cookie. That means that any user who clicks on your affiliate link, who has not visited Backendless previously, will be tagged as referred by you with a tracking cookie. If the user creates a Backendless account within that 60-day window, their future purchases will be attributed to your referral. The 12-month window for commissions is not related to the cookie window. The 12-month commission window begins when the user makes their first paid purchase from Backendless.
When you are approved as an affiliate, you will have a unique identifier automatically generated for your referral link. The default referral URL is the Backendless homepage. You can customize your identifier by clicking the blue customize link
button.
You can create additional links for other Backendless URLs by selecting the grey Links
button next to the URL, then click on the blue Add link
button.
You may link to any page on the primary https://backendless.com/
subdomain except those with the path /docs/
, such as https://backendless.com/docs/rest/users_overview.html
. /docs/
pages are not tracked for referral purposes.
You may add an optional sub-id
to track your campaigns, source/medium information, or any other relevant details for tracking and improving your promotions’ success. To view your stats, including sub-id stats, click the Details
link on your affiliate dashboard:
Your sub-id will be added to the end of the URL as an additional parameter. A URL with sub-id will read as follows:
https://backendless.com/?fpr={your_identifier}&fp_sid={sub_id}
The commission for affiliates is 50% of subscription payments for the first 12 months for each user that creates a Backendless account within the cookie window. Each time a customer you referred subscribes to an account or site plan, a Backendless team member will review the conversion, and once approved you’ll receive an email confirmation.
In order to get paid as an affiliate, you’ll need to have a PayPal account. Until your payout details are entered, you will see the following notice on your affiliate dashboard:
Click the button, select PayPal as your payment method, then enter the email associated with your PayPal account. Payments are made for the previous month on the 30th of each month. For example, you will receive payment for August commissions on September 30th. A minimum of $50 in commission must be accrued in order to receive a payout.
If you did not receive a payment that you believe you should have, please contact us.
As a Backendless affiliate, you are given a discount code that may be offered to your referred users. This code will need to be used at checkout by the user to receive the discount. As an affiliate, you may not use the code to receive a discount on your own service. Any attempt to do so may result in your expulsion from the affiliate program.
