Create or Edit Files

Backendless file editor can be used to create new files (including executable JavaScript code). Existing files uploaded with the API or the Backendless console can also be edited with a single click. Changes saved with the editor are immediately provisioned and become available via API. When creating a new file, you can choose between most common file types to enable automatic syntax highlighting.

Intelligent Syntax Highlighter

Backendless editor recognizes 18 well-known file formats and programming languages and automatically performs syntax coloring of the file contents. Supported formats and languages include XML, XML Schema, JavaScript, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, HTML.

Error Prompts

In addition to performing syntax coloring and highlighting, the editor also runs a basic syntax check and informs you about any errors. With the visual cues about errors and warnings in the utility bar, it becomes an essential tool when working on remote code or content.

Live Code and Content Edits

Backendless editor works directly with the file storage. The storage is used by the file download API and the Node.js subsystem which runs the JavaScript code in response to external requests. When a file is modified by the editor, the changes instantly become available for both the download API and the Node.js environment.

Line Numbering

The editor intelligently recognized collapsible blocks in the code and structured formats such as XML and JSON. Additionally, every line in the source files is enumerated thus making it very convenient for collaborative editing.
